JOTT 2020

A solitary Cub walks down the old railway track
in the Ryburn Valley on a hike with her family

Oh dear, no JOTT hike with the Cubs this year due to the Coronavirus situation as we are not allowed to meet up. However we are allowed to go outside and walk by ourselves, or with our families, and so we encouraged the Cubs & Scouts to do just that on JOTT weekend.

For those parents who didn’t want their children going outside, we challenged them to walk up and down their stairs 100 times in one day – for one flight of stairs that’s the equivalent of climbing 1000 feet.

John, one of our youngest Cubs, completed the stair challenge in style! It’s coincided with him doing an event for charity which he planned a couple of months before with his dad, climbing Goat Fell. He decided to raise money for the Trussell Trust by climbing the 3 flights of stairs in their house 100 times. He started at 7 am, spaced it out over the day and finished at 5 pm and managed the 300 flights! That’s around 3,000 feet!

Goat Fell, Isle of Arran – only 300 flights of stairs!
