Mini Brow Hike

Mini Brow Hike

On the Brow Hike the Scouts walk 19 miles (11+8) over 2 days carrying all their kit with an overnight camp thrown in.

Most years we do a mini version for the Cubs where they walk 11 miles (7+4) over 2 days carrying just their lunch. We transport all their gear by road and stay overnight in St Mary’s Church at Cottonstones.

The Scouts keep warm in their tents on a cool March evening. They go to bed early because (a) they are tired, (b) its cold outside and (c) there is nothing else to do. The Cubs on the other hand sleep in a centrally heated room with a carpeted floor, eat pizza and watch a couple of movies on a big screen.

Sunday morning is just a gentle walk back, usually with a park en route, as there also is on the Saturday.

An easy walk back down the old Sowerby Bridge to Rishworth railway track

The mini Brow Hikers of today may we be the Brow Hikers of tomorrow.
