Harvest Challenge

As in previous years, the Cubs were divided into small teams and taken to a local supermarket. They were given a list of things to find and a £5 note and told to buy as much as they could with the money. This year we were to buy tinned and dried foods that will ultimately go to The Food and support drop in centre in Halifax, as well as toiletries which would be given to Happy Days which in turn will be given to recently rehoused homeless people.

The photo above shows what you can buy for £5.14 (yes, they went over the limit by 14p); 15 items, enough for breakfast and a few meals with pudding thrown in!

Another team spent £4.72 on 8 toiletry items and my team got 9 items, but it cost us £6.62 – didn’t help when the prices on the shelf were for the shelf below and we missed one item, my fault (hangs head in shame).
