St George’s Day parades were once a common thing, but of late seem to have not been happening in our district. We were asked, just a few months before, if we would host and organize one for this year.

Tony, our GSL, took up the gauntlet and made lots of phone calls, filled in numerous multi page application forms, liaised with the police; permission to close some roads was finally granted.

The parade started at Walton Street, went over the river bridge and along Town Hall Street before turning up Tower Hill to the church.

A short service in the church lead by Rev Francis Neal was followed by dismissal outside on Tower Hill.
