Another Hike!

A stop for a snack

Yes! Another hike. Not much else we can really do during this time of Covid. We are not meeting indoors and at this time of the year it is getting too cold to do many things outdoors, so a hike.

Today a different route onto the northern side of the valley, just to make a change from Norland, good as it is. We walked by paths and tracks (and the occasional short bit of road) to Warley where time was made to play on the park – Cubs know that where possible we will walk past a park somewhere on the route and that there will be time to play. It’s a bit of a “stick and carrot” method to encourage the Cubs to get out and enjoy the countryside.

From here we walked up a long steep cobbled hill (Edgeholme Lane) to Norton Tower before descending by a roundabout route to Luddenden Foot. There was a steep muddy downhill bit where one Scout (hopefully) learned the folly of wearing the wrong footwear, after he frequently slipped and fell in the mud.

At Luddenden Foot there is another park and more playing took place. From here a gentle walk down the canal brought us back to Sowerby Bridge.
