Cubs raise money for children in Uganda

In October the Cubs raised the money by baking and selling buns and cakes at our anniversary parade. The people who bought them were very generous and we managed to raise £120. This money went towards running a Christmas party for orphaned and destitute children in Uganda, who are sponsored through the CRMI Children of Hope project.

Malcolm, one of the Cub Leaders, travels out to Uganda every year to run the party and administer the project. The party was run on Saturday 16th November and about 150 sponsored children attended, together with their guardians and half as many again of the local children. There was singing and dancing, prizes were given to the best achievers of the year and everyone ate loads of food and drank sodas – the food alone was more than most would see in a week. There were two iced cakes (cake is rare to all but the most well off and iced cake – a special treat!)

Thank you to all the Cubs and leaders who worked hard in the preparation and selling of the cakes, and to all those who bought them and gave generously.
